Red Valley walking guide
Plan a walk and an evening viewpoint as separate parts of your day.
Kızılçukur VadisiWhy choose this valley?
GoTürkiye highlights Kızılçukur for its sunset scenery and includes it in regional walking routes. A viewpoint visit can be worthwhile without walking through the valley; choose the experience that suits the daylight and time available.
A specific route: Kızılçukur to Çavuşin
Start: Kızılçukur sunset terrace, approached from Ortahisar. Finish: Çavuşin village, via Meskendir Valley. This is a one-way walk, so arrange transport to the start and your return from Çavuşin.
The Nevşehir Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism estimates approximately 5 km from the valley entrance to Çavuşin, taking 3–4 hours at a relaxed pace. This is an estimate for this particular route; allow extra time for getting to the entrance, breaks and changing conditions.
From the terrace, follow the path downhill towards Üzümlü Church; a sign before the church indicates the valley entrance. Continue through Kızılçukur, then follow Meskendir Valley to Çavuşin. Carry an offline route map and check current conditions before starting: junctions and access can change.
Terrain: The official description includes tunnels, a dark section and a steep descent using two metal ladders. Bring a torch, wear shoes with grip and avoid this route if anyone in your group is uncomfortable with ladders or heights. A local guide is a sensible choice if you are unfamiliar with the path.

Plan your walk
If you want both a walk and a sunset stop, plan to finish the trail with daylight to spare. Confirm the access route to your selected viewpoint separately. Do not assume that two visible paths join safely or remain open.
Getting to and from your walk
Agree pickup at the actual finishing point. No current direct dolmuş service to a specific Red Valley trailhead or sunset viewpoint is confirmed in this guide. For an evening visit, settle your return arrangements before heading out.
The map link below locates the valley area. It is not a verified walking track or a trailhead pin. Confirm the path, access and your finishing point before leaving.
Locate the valley area ↗Practical preparation
Wear shoes with grip and carry water and sun protection. Check conditions, daylight and any route closures locally. Ask about steps, uneven ground and exposed sections when choosing a walk for your group. For unfamiliar paths, consider a local walking guide.
