What time are Cappadocia balloon flights?
An early-morning experience, timed around sunrise.
Flights take place in the morning
Cappadocia balloon operators typically schedule their main flights around sunrise. The exact clock time changes with the season, so there is no single departure time that applies throughout the year.
Why around sunrise?
Commercial sightseeing flights are generally planned around sunrise, when winds are often calmer. Conditions vary by day and altitude, so a calm-looking morning does not guarantee a safe flight. Confirm the schedule for your date with your operator; the number and timing of permitted flight periods can vary.
When can a flight be cancelled?
Flights are subject to civil aviation rules and meteorological assessments. The Slot Service Centre publishes the meteorological suitability decision for each flight area, under the civil aviation framework; your operator and pilot must also assess the conditions for their flight. Wind, visibility or other weather conditions can prevent a flight.
A cancellation may be announced the day before, or early in the morning if conditions change—even after guests have been collected. The situation can differ between flight areas. Check the official Slot Service Centre and flight suitability link ↗, and confirm your own booking with your operator. Ask the operator about rescheduling and refund terms; neither is automatic.
Where do balloons fly?
Göreme, Ihlara, Soğanlı and Çat are different flight areas. Check the specific area before booking: a flight outside Göreme is not the same itinerary or hotel transfer.

Pickup is before your flight
Your hotel pickup and take-off are different times. Your operator confirms the pickup time for your date and hotel. Use that confirmed message when setting your alarm rather than an estimated time from a general travel guide.
Planning the rest of your morning
Allow for hotel pickup, preparation, the flight and your return journey. Confirm the expected hotel return time before arranging another activity or an airport transfer that morning.
