The practical Cappadocia guide

Kayseri or Nevşehir Airport?

Two airports. One Cappadocia trip.

Start with the airport code on your ticket: Kayseri is ASR; Nevşehir Kapadokya is NAV. Cappadocia is a region, so your accommodation town matters as much as the airport name.

Compare airports for Göreme

AirportApproximate road distance to GöremeDirect drive estimate
Nevşehir Kapadokya (NAV)About 40 kmAbout 35–50 minutes
Kayseri (ASR)About 75–80 kmAbout 60–80 minutes

These are approximate direct road estimates, not shuttle schedules. Weather, traffic, hotel location and shared-shuttle stops can add time. Distances and journey times to Ürgüp, Avanos or other towns differ; check your own route. See example road estimates ↗

Airport transport options

Pre-booked shared shuttle, private transfer and taxi are options; verify availability for your flight and exact hotel. A city-bound airport bus is not automatically a hotel shuttle. Compare total cost and confirm pickup instructions before booking. For arrivals, see our NAV to Göreme and ASR to Göreme guides.

Compare the whole journey

Look at the available flights, total ticket cost, arrival time and onward transport together. A convenient flight with a confirmed transfer can be more useful than choosing an airport by proximity alone.

Arrival and departure can use different airports

Keep each leg’s airport, flight number and date separate when booking transport. Do not assume the return flight departs from the airport where you arrived.

Plan your airport arrival

Choose the guide matching the airport on your ticket: Nevşehir (NAV) → Göreme or Kayseri (ASR) → Göreme. Keep arrival and departure airport details separate.
